The ShowTime and Galleria themes come with home page sections that allow you to display a grid of the latest images from you Instagram feed.
In order for this to work, you need to obtain an access token to activate your Instagram feed for use in our themes. When you click the "Generate Token" link on the page referenced above, you'll be directed to a secure Instagram page that will allow you to log in and authorize your Instagram feed. It will then display a long string of letters and numbers that you can copy and paste into your theme settings.
Mile High Themes will not have access to any of your photos or personal information. The purpose of this process is so that Instagram can delegate bandwidth between user feeds. If you're interested in learning more about how Instagram delegates bandwidth, you can read more here.
Once you have your token please log into your store as an administrator then take the following steps:
- Go to Online Store > Themes and choose your desired theme
- Click the Customize theme button
- Either add a new Instagram section to your home page or click on it if you've already added one
- Enter your token in the designated text box
- Click the "Save" button to save your changes
Important notes and troubleshooting
Every so often, Instagram updates their API which can cause your feed to suddenly stop appearing on your home page. If this happens to you, it can usually be fixed by following the steps above to obtain a new access token and paste it into your theme settings (replacing your old token).
It should be noted that the script used in our themes (and pretty much all Shopify themes with this functionality) is only capable of displaying single images in your feed. If you add galleries or videos in your Instagram feed, they may not display properly on your website. If you rely on these features, we would suggest trying one of the many Instagram apps in the Shopify app store.
